Humanoid robot price UK: the 2026 price landscape

Every humanoid robot price you will see quoted, in one honest table: what the maker has actually published, what is a reseller listing, what is only a stated target, and what a UK buyer really pays once the unit lands here.

Quick answer

In 2026, reported humanoid robot prices run from USD 5,900 for the Unitree R1 to USD 90,800 for the Unitree H1, with the Unitree G1 at a reported USD 13,500 direct. Consumer platforms sit around USD 20,000 where prices exist at all: the 1X NEO preorder is reported at USD 20,000 in the US, and Tesla Optimus has a stated target under USD 20,000 but no actual price. UK buyers then add freight, import duty and 20 percent VAT.

Every figure on this page is a reported or announced number attributed to its maker or, where stated, to reseller listings. None is a UK quote from us. Exchange rates, freight and duty change constantly, so treat this page as orientation and get a written landed quote before any budget is approved. We track UK availability and update this page as routes open.

Two tiers

Entry and education versus flagship

The market has split cleanly into two price worlds, and knowing which one you are shopping in saves a lot of confusion.

Entry and education tier: reported USD 5,900 to 16,000

The Unitree R1 and G1 own this tier. These are developer platforms: capable, real and shipping, but supplied as programmable hardware rather than finished products. This is the tier a UK university lab, robotics startup or serious enthusiast actually buys from today. Our Unitree G1 UK guide covers the leading option in depth, and cheaphumanoid.co.uk tracks this tier across every maker.

Flagship and enterprise tier: reported USD 43,900 upwards, or no price at all

The G1 EDU configurations, the H1, and every Western enterprise platform sit here. Where prices are absent it is because the makers sell outcomes rather than units: Agility's Digit runs at GXO under a service agreement, and Apptronik and Figure work through negotiated pilots. If you are budgeting at this tier you are a business, and our guide to humanoid robots for business in the UK is the better starting point.

The UK uplift

What UK landed cost adds to the headline price

No humanoid is manufactured in the UK for retail sale, so every purchase is an import. Four additions turn the advertised figure into the real one:

  • International freight. A crated robot of 25 to 50 kilograms shipping from China or the US is a material line item, reported in the hundreds to low thousands of dollars depending on speed and method.
  • Import duty. Charged at the rate for the applicable commodity code. Confirm the code and rate with a customs broker; robotic systems are not all classified alike.
  • VAT at 20 percent. Applied at the border on the sum of goods value, freight and duty, not on the goods alone. On a USD 13,500 unit this is the largest single addition.
  • Clearance and handling fees. Smaller, but real, and they vary by agent.

As a working rule, a UK buyer should budget comfortably above the headline price once everything lands, and treat any tighter number as unverified until quoted in writing. The mechanics, including Postponed VAT Accounting for VAT registered businesses, are covered step by step in our guide to importing a humanoid robot into the UK.

Purchase price is also only the start of the money conversation. Electricity, maintenance, spares, insurance and engineering time all follow the unit through the door: our full cost of ownership guide puts numbers and honest unknowns against each.

Alternatives to buying

If the price is the problem

Two legitimate ways to get humanoid capability without flagship money:

Hire instead of buy. For events, filming, demonstrations and short evaluations, hiring costs a small fraction of ownership. Our sister site publishes the current picture at humanoid robot hire cost UK.

Watch for genuine availability changes. Prices and routes move quickly in this market; the deals and availability tracker at humanoidsale.co.uk follows genuine movements, not manufactured urgency.

Common questions

Humanoid robot prices in the UK

What is the cheapest humanoid robot a UK buyer can get?

The cheapest credible humanoid available to UK buyers in 2026 is the Unitree R1, launched at a reported USD 5,900. After freight, import duty and UK VAT at 20 percent, a UK buyer should expect a landed cost meaningfully above that figure. It is a compact developer platform, not a household robot.

How much is a humanoid robot in pounds?

Manufacturer prices are quoted in US dollars, so the pound figure moves with the exchange rate. As a rough orientation in 2026, reported prices span from about USD 5,900 for the Unitree R1 to USD 90,800 for the Unitree H1, before UK freight, duty and VAT are added. Treat any precise GBP figure you see online as an estimate unless it comes from a written UK quote.

Why is the UK price higher than the advertised price?

Advertised prices are typically ex works manufacturer figures. A UK buyer adds international freight from the country of origin, UK import duty at the applicable commodity code rate, UK VAT at 20 percent calculated on goods plus freight plus duty, and customs clearance fees. Together these push UK landed cost materially above the headline number.

Is the Tesla Optimus price of USD 20,000 real?

No price for Tesla Optimus exists. USD 20,000 to 30,000 is a stated long term target from Elon Musk, not a listing, and reported manufacturing cost per unit remains far higher. Optimus has no public sales route in any country as of 2026. Our Tesla Optimus UK status page keeps the honest picture current.
